A Busy Family’s Dream – Relished Foods {Review and Giveaway}

relished-title

Have you ever had one of those weeks, okay maybe a month, where you are in a giant rut as far as cooking goes? Well, call this my rut. We have a lot going on right now. More than usual (we always have a lot going on). Selling a house, moving coordination, packing up a house, buying a house, and relocating to hundreds of miles away. All while keeping up with three little ones. I’d say we have a lot going on.

So while I love cooking for my family and creating recipes, giving them healthy, fresh food, has to be my number one priority. Some nights I’m creating in the kitchen and some nights, I am beat and can barely think straight.

Clearly, a few weeks ago when an email came in asking me to review Relished Foods, a service providing fresh ingredients (many organic), and recipes delivered right to your house, I was on it. I have never tried a meal service before and to be honest, I never really thought I wanted to. That is until life took over and got so incredibly busy that even loading the dishwasher took 5 minutes of my day that I didn’t have. #firstworldproblems

Here’s how it went down:

Choosing Meals

I went to the Relished Foods website. Each week there is a set of different meals that you can choose from. There is variety so it isn’t the same meals week after week. You choose 3 meals per week (the serving size is customizable). A pre-portioned ingredient box along with beautiful picture filled step by step recipes are delivered to your doorstep. Not the meals, the ingredients. <– This part I LOVED!

The meals to choose from are delicious. Created by professional chefs, they are not your average meal so it is exciting to try them. I chose Turkey and Goat Cheese Meatballs with Pesto Spaghetti and Baby Arugula, Pan Roasted Tilapia wiwth Chili Lime Compound Butter and Broccoli, and Artichoke and Cherry Tomato Flatbread with Goat Cheese, Baby Arugula, and Pepperoncini Salad.

Cooking

When my ingredients arrived and I peaked in each individual bag, I got giddy. The idea of being able to use fresh produce (already portioned out) and cook an extremely healthy, fresh meal (nothing is frozen) for my family without having to plan and purchase each individual item, and think of a recipe, was amazing! It was definitley a treat.

Even better was the fact that I entered into this for a quick, healthy meal for my family and what I got was not only that but a new recipe collection and some new skills in the kitchen. Like I said before the recipes come with pictures, step by step. Have you ever made a compound butter before? Yeah, neither had I…but now I will. Lots.
