I LOVE finding fun gifts for some of the most important people in my children’s lives. I generally try to make something for them that they will enjoy because I am much more of the homemade type. That said, buying the right gift works too.:)
Now, I may be getting this wrong BUT most of those that I talk to say that teacher’s get tons of “stuff” around the holidays so keeping gifts to something you can really imagine them using is a good idea. My mom was a preschool teacher for years and I remember opening up all of her gifts during the holidays and at the end of school. We definitely had our favorites and so I tried to incorporate them into these 7 Teacher Gift Ideas!
1. Gift Card to a Local Book Store
Cliche I know, but gift cards are always a hit so what about one to a local bookseller? Unfortunately these establishments are going out of business fast:( So help support them! Here is a site that can help you find your closest indie bookstore.
2. Mug and Hot Chocolate
Keep your eye open for a fancy mug throughout the year. Starbucks has awesome ones and sometimes they go on sale in between seasons! I stock up then! Grab some gourmet hot chocolate packets like these Ghiradelli ones and wrap them up with some peppermint stirring sticks and it will make the perfect gift!
3. DIY Earrings
These classy yet simple earrings are always a hit! They are so simple to make and look so nice when wrapped up. Combined with a cute scarf or even that gift card, they make a great, useful gift. AND, here is a tutorial for you to make them yourself:)
4. Gingerbread Scones in a Jar
I gave these to the kid’s preschool teachers years ago and received SO many compliments on how delicious the mix turned out! In fact, I remember not making enough for us to try them and so I think I’ll be making them again this year:) I mix up the gingerbread scone ingredients, put them in Ball jars, grabbed my gingerbread punch, attached them to the jar with Christmas scrapbook paper and they were adorable!
5. The Orange Owl Bath Products
I love the idea of giving good quality, all natural bath and body products! I was introduced to The Orange Owl at The Natural Products Expo East and found them to be the most fabulously smelling products out there! I got a chance to test out the Mint Soother body butter and it was ah-mazing! It leaves your skin feeling relaxed and refreshed. Perfect for a hard working teacher! I also love the Sunshine Bar (a soap bar) not only because of the smell of the patchouli in it but because the packaging is made using recycled post-consumer waste products.
6. Colored Pencil Jewelry
If you are going the jewelry route, you can’t get much more styling/creative than this awesome colored pencil jewelry from Miceart on Etsy! I love the stud earrings and necklaces!
7. DIY Succulent Planter
Perfect for a desk at school are succulents. They require little care and dress up a drab school desk! I love these milk glass containers used in this tutorial by ‘A Casarella but really you can use anything.
* Of course make sure to package all of your teacher’s gifts with a handmade card from your little one. Hearing what they have to say about why they just adore their teacher will make hearts melt!

They are some of my favorites too!
When I was a teacher, a student once gave me a pair of used earrings from his mom’s jewelry box. That was actually one of the most meaningful gifts ever! True story. 😉
