Before and After School Organization With Mason Jars

masonjars-title

School is coming. Whether you like it or not (some days I do, some I don’t), get ready AND get organized.

This year I am all about streamlining things, both before and after school. I must say, I tend to be a little “last minute”. I don’t want to do that this year and so I have made it my goal to be prepared.

Clearly, you can’t sacrifice cuteness though for being organized! So, when I was asked by QVC to participate in Jill Bauer’s Back-to-School Mason Jar Challenge, I accepted without hesitation. What’s not to love about mason jars? I could use them in every part of my life (and do)! I added in before AND after school and designed some Aladdin Mason Jars to fit.

If you don’t know of Jill Bauer, she hosts the network’s popular show, You’re Home with Jill and provides fans with simple solutions for their busy lives through innovative products, a library of stress free DIY projects, and crowd-pleasing recipes. You can catch her on QVC beginning this Wed. August 20th and every one following at 7 p.m.

Before school, we’ll be heading out of the house early with two in full day school this year. It is tough with three in the house (one of them being a 2 1/2 year old that could blow at any moment) and so I need to be prepared ahead of time. Breakfast can be tough. I like knowing that they have enough in them to start the day off right. Two of the mason jars are earmarked for nightly preparations of a healthy smoothie.

I was excited to see that my blender screws perfectly onto the mason jar – perfect! Throw a few frozen peaches, blueberries, heck, even a banana in there with some yogurt, just add milk in the a.m. and you have yourself a delish morning breakfast to take and drink on the road!

After school can be a challenge too. I will say that often I get caught up with work or playing with H and am unprepared with a snack when the kids walk in the door. I like to give them my undivided attention during those afterschool hours. For the next two mason jars, I grabbed some chalkboard paint and started spraying the tops of the mason jars covering up the hole and the side (so that some of these bright, vibrant colors would show through)!

One of the jars will be for a neat game that we play after school called “Chew and Chat”. It is filled with conversation starters. Questions about their school day that they will take turns answering.

The other one is where the chew comes in. It’s for the after school cookies. :)

The kids were pretty excited about the jars and can’t wait to use them once the school year begins. Heck who am I kidding? We’ve already started using them. :)

What are your roadblocks during school and how do you stay organized?

**Disclosure: I received a set of 4 Aladdin Mason Jars for the purpose of this challenge. All ideas and opinions in this post are my own.

    • We have a super old Magic Bullet that fits onto these mason jars (the Aladdin ones:) Not sure it is a standard thing though. Either way a great place to keep a morning smoothie!
