Monster Make a Match Game – Mama May I {Review}

I have long been admiring the work of Jessica Perkins as she opened her online shop, Mama May I. Filled with handmade learning toys for ages ranging from infant through childhood, it is a shop based off of naturally ecofriendly priciples as well as a mission that I believe in.

Jessica was inspired to create these toys by both Montessori and Waldorf methodologies. She believes children make sense of our world by sensing through it. Her toys are made from wood and add the simplicity that I believe our children need more of. It is a refreshing change from many of the toys out there today.

H had the opportunity to check out the Make a Match – Monster game. It comes beautifully presented in a small canvas bag, just the right size to fit into your purse. In fact, we took it our adventure to the allergists office and it was key in our 2 hour wait!

There are 24 wooden coin shaped pieces all marked with different pairs of monsters. Each image is hand drawn on the wooden coin with black ink. The idea behind the game is that of the classic Memory game. The game is meant for children above the age of 4 secondary to the size of the coins. That said, H (3 years old) played with it perfectly when I was supervising him.

He loved playing with his brother and sister and it was the perfect game for them to help him with.

I am excited to check out the many other toys that Jessica has in her shop. Below are some reviews on more Mama May I toys that I found helpful. I know a few of these will be on our Christmas lists this year!
