One of my very favorite cookies also happens to be one of Ben’s –> score! AND a family recipe –> double score!
When I met Ben he had long been enjoying what his family called Chocolate Drop Cookies. His grandmother had made them as he was growing up and it was such a treat to eat them. Then of course when she would visit us, we would get that treat as well.
At least once a year when Ben’s grandmother comes to visit us, we enjoy her Chocolate Drop Cookies and the kids really enjoy the stories that go along with them. Of course all year round, I make them as well but they aren’t nearly as special as Great Grandma’s. 😉 I’ve put a bit of a twist on her recipe (hers are still the best of the best) and changed up the ingredients a little.
Chocolate Drop Cookies
Ingredients:
2 eggs
2 cups organic brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/8 cup softened butter (I use Kerrygold)
3/4 cup organic cocoa powder
3 1/3 cup flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup whole organic milk
Method:
Beat eggs and sugar until light. Add vanilla and butter and blend well. Mix dry ingredients and then add to egg mixture alternately with milk. Mix well. Drop by teaspoonful onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. The cookies are not meant to be huge. Bake at 350 degrees for ~10 minutes. DO NOT overbake.
This recipe makes ~ 5 dozen.
ENJOY!

When it comes to cooking and baking, butter is a common ingredient. Up the flavor of your dish by using a quality butter and supporting a sustainable company at the same time. Kerrygold butters are made with milk from grass fed cows in Ireland. They take pride in how they make their butter and what goes into so you will not ever see additives or hormones added. You will taste (and see the difference)!
Continuing on with sustainability in baking, when you are traveling with baked goods (and when you’re at home) it’s important to use an ecofriendly choice. If You Care is a company with a full line of ecofriendly products such as pie pans, baking pans, parchment paper. Their packaging shows exactly where the product came from and where it can go after use. Recycling and composting are two of the most common options! Score!

Yep! Funny, Ben’s grandmother wrote it that way in her recipe and so it is just like second nature to write it like that but I remember the first time I made them I seriously contemplated putting club soda in there.
LOL! That’s funny, and it’s probably what I would have done a year ago
