H is now over 2 years old. That means a lot of things but one of the most important is the inability to hide what the “big kids” are doing. He wants to be a part of everything! This is great…except for when the big kids want to drink and eat things that little guy can’t because of a peanut allergy. We are always finding ways around it and introducing peanut free options that we didn’t know about before to our family.

This winter has been cold and snowy {LOVE} and so hot chocolate has been a drink of choice in this house! One downside though is the fact that it is fairly difficult to find a hot chocolate that we can trust to be not only peanut free but also not manufactured in the same facility as ingredients with peanuts. That is until we found Vermont Nut Free Chocolate.

I had met the president of this company at the Natural Products Expo East this past fall and we had chatted about the opportunities that his company has opened for families with nut allergies. Including the ability to drink a safe hot chocolate as a family!

When I received some of this hot chocolate to review, I will tell you, I was a bit nervous. I have a 7, a 5, and a 32 year old that are accustomed to either drinking homemade hot cocoa or the stuff in the packet when we are in a pinch. I was nervous that they would immediately know the difference AND not like it. I didn’t show my apprehension yet went on making the hot cocoa just like any other day with the only difference being that H got to enjoy a cup!

I was pretty excited when I opened up and totally impressed even with the consistency of the hot cocoa. It was not packed down or difficult to scoop. No one knew the difference. Every one LOVED it…even little H!! How excited he was to sit at the counter with the big kiddos! I am more than excited that I have found yet another brand that I trust that everyone loves (even me)!

One of my next biggest questions was do they carry melting wafers (for candymaking) which if you have ever looked for nut free ones you have probably gotten frustrated. They do carry them! I can’t wait to make some chocolate…maybe for a Valentine’s treat:) H will be so very excited!

Vermont Nut Free Hot Chocolate and their other nut free treats can be found here.

* Disclosure: I received a container of hot chocolate for the purpose of this review. No additional compensation was recevied and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
