Well, school’s back in session. I have mixed emotions. Happy then sad, then really excited for my kiddos that LOVE school!
Either way, it is happening. I have two munchkins that are getting all big and stuff and going off to school all day where they eat their lunch and spend most of their time!
Lunchtime. According to G it is his second favorite part of the day (the bus ride is his first). So…since this is such a fun time, why not make it healthy too?
Before summer was over I got both G and C to draw for me what their ideal lunches were. Let’s take a look!
They both drew Bento Boxes! HA! That right there makes lunch SO fun!
C had a PB and Jam sandwich in hers with some applesauce and carrots. All around pretty darn healthy!
G - he had some apple juice, fruit, and carrots. Hey dude! Where’s the rest?! <-clearly my light eater;)
I can’t complain much about what they drew. Overall my guys are pretty healthy on their own. They choose most of their lunch themselves. The place that I come in is trying to offer suggestions that will sustain them throughout the day. 8 hours is a long time for a little one to be away from home. After a summer of snacking all the time, they are used to having snacks whenever they feel hungry so making sure they get the most out of lunchtime is important!
Now here is my kind of lunch that rocks:
A cheese quesadilla (eaten cold)
Fresh cut organic strawberries
Baby carrots (or farm fresh if we have them!)
Stonyfield Yogurt - this new Petite Cream variety is ah-mazing!
Honest Kids Apple Juice Pouch
