I SO needed this weekend.
Years ago, a few lovely ladies from the neighborhood and I would head over to Lancaster to a B&B, and stay for the weekend. Some of us would bring scrapbooking projects to work on, others would sew, some would knit, and some would just “be”. It was wonderful to get away! For some reason (I write with a smile on my face) it hasn’t been quite as easy to get away and so when my friend Audrey offered up her basement for the weekend to a group of us, I was SO excited, we were all SO excited! It was perfect!
Her house is just 15 minutes away, she has a large walkout basement with a kitchenette and bathroom, and we could just leave our supplies for whatever we were doing set up all weekend and come and go as we pleased. With soccer games and pizza parties already lined up, it was a getaway without really having to leave town!
I went on Friday and Saturday and for a bit on Sunday too. My plan was to get a bunch of work done on a {special} project I am working on as well as a few other crafts too. I used to love scrapbooking but I have found that I just don’t have the time or capacity to be able to do it right now. Someday…
Most of the girls did scrapbook however and so Audrey had tables set up in her basement so that everyone could spread out easily.
We talked, caught up, and got stuff done without being interrupted. It was great! There were a few things thought that made it go off without a hitch.
Here is what you need to have a Girls Weekend Without Leaving Town:
1. Most importantly you have to have a GREAT group of girlfriends! These ladies are some of the ones that save my life when I am stressed to the max or really need something. I feel very lucky to have them!
2. A local place. You need to have a place where you can all spread out. The key to this is that you can leave your “stuff” set up all weekend long. Audrey’s basement was perfect! I have also gone to events where a church space was rented out and it was geared toward scrapbookers. That was really fun too. I think it is the idea of allowing your stuff to stay spread out without moving it.
3. Food List. Come on, you HAVE to have snacks! Audrey sent around an email the week before saying what she planned on having and everyone added to it. Saturday we had meatball subs and Sunday was Shredded Mexican Chicken in the crockpot. Some girls brought chips and salsa, some brought snacks. There were plenty of bottles of water and other drinks to enjoy too!
4. Tables and Chairs. Make sure you bring one so you have enough room to work.
That is it!
I had a wonderful refreshing weekend. I made some great headway on that {special} project I started, finished a wreath for our doorway (more on that later:) and a number of other things that I have let go lately got done as well. Productive and rejuvenating, the perfect combination!
What did you do this weekend?
