Welcome to our Christmas-y home! There is this great Christmas Party going on over at Frugal {Local} Kitchen that I am participating in so it has us all in the holiday mood!
We are on a decorating kick over here in our house. Maybe I should clarify and say that C and G are on a decorating kick. It feels like every free minute they are crafting up something else to hang on the wall or the tree. Yesterday it was letters to Santa on bright neon-colored old school index cards (from my college studying days) with a hole punched in it and a ribbon tied so that we could hang it on the tree.
Today I gave a little guidance (but not much), and we ended up with some fantastic sparkly popsicle stick snowflakes. I get the Lowe’s mini-magazine every few months and in this last one there were these gorgeous gem snowflakes hanging as decorations on the designer house’s walls. I figured C could recreate this kid-style, and recreate she did! I found these gems on clearance at Michaels and we had the popsicle sticks and glue, so off she went. I must say, they do add some sparkle among the kid artwork in our hallway now and look beautiful!
Our other favorite go-to holiday craft is beads on pipe cleaners. I remember making these with my cousin Nikki during Christmas time when I was a kid. She made the best candy cane ornaments you ever saw! Today, C, G, and I made some beaded candy canes, wreaths, and Christmas trees. Of course C’s wreath had to be a perfect circle with a bright pink bow at the bottom. And G’s was a fantastic multi-color spectacular!
I have said this before and I will say it again, our home feels so much cozier now with all of the kids’ handmade decorations everywhere. It’s like a snapshot of where we are right now. One day they aren’t going to be so excited about making beaded ornaments, helping me with our wreath, and gluing gems on popsicle sticks and that will make me sad, so I’ll enjoy it while I can!
***Remember to head on over to Frugal {Local} Kitchen this week to grab some other great Christmas decorating ideas!

I love the ideas! I’m adding the pipe cleaner ornaments to my Advent Calendar activity list. Even though the kids do ornaments at school, I’m sure they would love to do them at home, too.
