The week went by SO quick which is good (and bad). I started in PA and ended in MA. And boy was it a whirlwind of an adventure!
So I can officially say (I think) that we sold our house. We’ve passed the inspection with just a few small things to fix and the appraiser has been out though no verdict on that yet. It feels good. Really good. And really sad at the same time. I am guessing that all of the emotions come flowing in at this point, right? I mean, we love our house. We love our community. I brought all three of my kids home here and they have taken their first steps here. How do you walk away without any emotion? I assume no one does. As excited as I am to move to MA and see what’s in store for us, this has become a transition that is much more difficult than I anticipated. Nothing to do but to keep moving. The plus is that we sold our house to an adorable younger couple that you can tell want to have a family. This is a great house for that (obviously)!
Wednesday, I woke up to a gigantic (totally exaggerating) hole in the front yard. Where they had filled in for the excavation had settled a bit with all of the rain we got. No biggie I was told. It was totally to be expected and they would fill it in when the rain stopped. So…I left the kids with my mom and dad (SAINTS) and caught a plane to Boston. My parents are the only two people in this world I am comfortable leaving my children with. And the kids were excited to spend a few days with them.
I got into Boston and navigated my way to our friends house which took 2 trains and a bus and was incredibly fun, especially since my phone died and I was navigating old school by way of maps and (GASP) talking to people. Heaven forbid! A total blast for me (with the exception of the really rude old woman at South Station that was not at all amused that I didn’t know how to get to where I was going). It was great to see Ben on a weeknight and wonderful to see friends.
The next day, the house hunting began. Our realtor Kathy and I met in Foxboro to begin our house hunting excursion. Talk about saints. We looked for 12 hours taking a 30 minute lunch. And.didnt.find.it. There were 2. 2 houses we could both see ourselves in. One of them was the one I posted a pic of on FB. Take the perfect backyard, my perfect, dream backyard, and then go up a level on the dream scale and there you have it. Ah-maze-ing. A greenhouse and a garden, flat 2 acres, need I say more? But in the end, it was the commute. Just a bit too long. I’m still sad about it. I could picture C there, in the big oak tree on the property in a dress, barefeet, drawing.
A night at Fenway was just what we needed to uplift our moods…
Morning #2 started with a run along the Charles River with a friend. It was a gorgeous day and the talking was the perfect medicine for everything going through my mind. That morning, I was lucky.
I saw a few more on our way out of town, and the towns were nice. So I feel a bit more optimistic at this point. But man, that perfect house is really tough to find…

Fingers crosses for both the selling and the buying! I just know you will find the perfect spot!

Thanks Colleen! I am hoping so. We haven’t found it yet, but I have hope:)
