Gourmet Garden – Fresh Made Easy Herbs {Review and Giveaway}

Just over a month ago, I attended a food blogging conference called the Big Summer Potluck 4. Aside from a wonderful few days filled with FAB food, new friends, and great inspiration, I also got to know some brands that I hadn’t heard of before. One of these brands is Gourmet Garden. Now, my mom would tell you I was crazy…she has known about them for months and admired all of their fresh herb containers while strolling the produce aisle at McCaffrey’s. However, this was a first introduction/taste for me.

We received a bunch of containers of fresh herbs in a cooler at the conference since Gourmet Garden was a lead sponsor. And a lot of the food at the conference used these herbs in the recipes (especially the MYO pizza bar…YUM!).

I must say though, I was a bit dubious bringing this cooler home and loading the side door of my refrigerator with packaged herbs. I wasn’t sure it would really hold a place in my kitchen…until I was making my Homemade Pizza Sauce one day on a whim. My world (and thoughts of Gourmet Garden) changed that day.

Fresh tomatoes were at a surplus at the farm so I grabbed a bunch with no plan in mind. When I arrived home and put H down for a nap, I decided to cook some marinara sauce in one pot and pizza sauce in another. OH NO! I had no fresh garlic in the house. Or parsley. Or basil. CRUD…I was stuck. I couldn’t run out to the store and my tomatoes were already cooking in the pot. I could use dried spices (turns nose) but grrr…. Then I remembered my Gourmet Garden containers in the fridge and grabbed them.

How did the sauce turn out that day? Amazing. Now, I will say, with fresh herbs from the farm that day, I am sure it still would have turned out amazing BUT, that wasn’t an option. Gourmet Garden came through for me that day and honestly, I can’t say that was the last time either. Since then there have been a ridiculous amount of incidents where I have been able to cook something I wouldn’t have because I have had them. And I must say…they have an Italian Herbs container that is perfect for toppings on a pizza or really anything Italian. No mixing your herbs or spices anymore, they did it for you.

Their Fresh Dill was an ingredient in my Summer Harvest Chicken Salad too! Gourmet Gardens showcases SO many great recipes that their herbs can be used in, but really, opportunities are endless. I loved all of the ways Pam Anderson used them at BSP4!

On all organic farms in Central Queensland Australia, farmers grow and mix these herbs which stay fresh for 3 months of use. There are a bunch of varieties including your classics like garlic paste, cilantro, Italian herbs, dill, and basil as well as some really fun varieties such as chili pepper, ginger, lemongrass, and Mediterranean seasoning! You can see all of them here.

Sold only in select locations in the U.S. right now, see if there is a store by you.

I am SO very excited to offer a package of 11 Gourmet Garden Herbs delivered to your doorstep for a lucky reader of mine;) Herbs will include: Basil, Chili Pepper, Cilantro, Dill, Garlic, Ginger, Italian Herbs, Lemon Grass, Oregano, and Parsley.

    Thank you for this lovely giveaway! I have to admit, I’m having a hard time deciding on just one I really want to try. If I had to pick just one, I’d have to say the Chunky Garlic because I use garlic SO much. But I’d love to try the Lemongrass and Ginger in order to challenge myself to make dishes I don’t normally make. Having those flavors on hand might make that easier for me. I LOVED the sound of the Lemongrass Ginger Pear recipe on Gourmet Garden’s website. Thanks again!
