French Toast Casserole {Recipe}


Last weekend, we headed home to visit my parents in Washington Crossing. I have said it before and I’ll say it again, my mom is a wonderful cook so we are always spoiled with delicious meals! C fell in love on Sunday with my mom’s French Toast Casserole.

My kids have always loved french toast, so the idea of a make-ahead and bake the morning of version was fantastic. I love that you just have to pop it in the oven the morning that you want to serve it and in less than an hour, you’re read to go. Oh how tasty it was!

I made sure to grab the recipe and of course now I’m sharing it with all of you!


French Toast Casserole


  • 1 loaf of Cinnamon Swirl Bread cut into pieces
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 5 Tbsp pure maple syrup


  1. Grease a 9x13 glass baking dish.
  2. Place pieces of bread in baking dish.
  3. Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon together. Set aside.
  4. Make sauce topping in pan. Stir together butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Heat until bubbly, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
  5. Pour egg mixture over bread first.
  6. Pour sauce topping over that.
  7. Refrigerate overnight.
  8. The next morning preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  9. Bake for 45 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
  10. ENJOY!
