Three Weeks of a Dental Hygeine Challenge

Listerine-toothpaste-title

I have spent the last three weeks in a “dental hygeine challenge” if you will. Honestly, this should NOT have been a challenge at all. It makes it sound like I am not one for teeth brushing or good dental hygeine. That is not the case at all. But I will say, I am not the best at remembering to floss and use mouth wash every.single.night. I would venture to say that most aren’t.

So for the last 3 weeks, that was the challenge. Every morning and every night I have flossed (well, that I only did once a day), brushed my teeth, and used LISTERINE mouthwash.

I gotta say, after a few days, it became a habit. A good one.

The morning part was pretty easy for me. I ALWAYS brush my teeth in the morning and adding mouthwash into the mix was super easy. Side note: Listerine Toothpaste. Yeah, I kind of love it. It has a really strong and interesting taste. It’s super minty and makes me think baking soda (which I actually really like).

The tough part was the night time. I usually am so sleepy when I get up to bed that I just want to jump right in and not have to do anything. So, I didn’t wait until them. As soon as I put the kids to bed, I went in, brushed my teeth with Listerine Whitening Gel Anti Cavity Toothpaste, flossed (I like doing it more at night), and then used Listerine mouthwash. It felt grand. One nice indirect benefit? After swishing at night, the last thing I wanted to do was snack a lot. I loved that cool, refreshing feeling that the mouthwash left, did NOT want to ruin it!

See that #SwishSelfie ^? Yep, you can take one too. Remember, you can submit one on Listerine’s Facebook page and they will donate $5 to Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America Program. Up to $85,000! That’s a lot!

After just a few days, my teeth just felt cleaner. I also noticed that after the three weeks, my gums bled much less when flossing than on Day 1. And, I am still in love with the flavor of the toothpaste!

The kids saw me brushing and flossing and rinsing. They have become obsessed with flossing (SUCH a good thing!). They have also asked to swish too. I think I may get C started on that. G may be a few months off.
