One of my nightmares: The note that comes home from school saying that there is a case of lice in the class. Yep, we were in that position this past December. Actually the last day before the Christmas holiday, my kiddo had that note in her backpack. Now, after much reconnaissance, I found out that the note comes home if there is someone in their class with lice OR if there is a sibling of someone in their class that has lice. Either way, too close for comfort.
Now, let me make this clear: by no means am I saying that getting lice is the worst nightmare I can imagine, but let’s be real, it’s not something that I even want to think about. I have certainly had (many) nightmares about it and now I am itching just thinking about it.
Here is how the next few days went down after the December note:
My daughter’s backpack and coat were washed in hot water and then remained in the garage thereafter (well, at least for a good month), my kids were bathed. I itched. I washed my kids’ hair twice a day with tea tree oil. I itched. I lectured my daughter on not sharing hats or brushes. I itched. I washed school clothing in hot water daily. Did I mention that I itched?
I also did some research on preventing lice, not knowing at first if I would come up with anything. I ended up using tea tree oil on my kiddos, and after doing further research, there are a ton of other products out on the market that also help to repel lice. It’s just a matter of finding the right one for you.
I also had the opportunity to try out LiceLogic. This line of products are safe, eco-friendly, and contain NO toxic chemicals or synthetic fragrances. Here are some of the questions that I had when researching these products and the answers that I found through LiceLogic:
– How effective can a lice repellent be? LiceLogic has been shown to be 99% effective in all independent studies.
I can say from my own experience that we have been using it as a shampoo/conditioner since January. I am not going to say it because I don’t want to jinx myself, but we haven’t had…..
– How environmentally friendly is the product? All packaging of LiceLogic is biodegradable and recyclable.
– Does the product smell too strong? Like I mentioned before, LiceLogic uses NO synthetic fragrances so there is no strong, “fake” smell. There are three scents that LiceLogic makes their Repel Conditioning Shampoo in; rosemary mint, lemongrass, and lavender.
We tried lemongrass and the scent was really nice. It was not at all overwhelming and was a very clean and fresh smell. I am quite the lavender girl, so I would love to try that scent!
LiceLogic also makes treatment products as well as other repellent products such as a household spray. You can find out more about them here.
Also, be sure to read about the interesting story behind LiceLogic!
