A Lavender Farm and Some Ideas!

It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing – you could be in a car with three screaming children, two happily and one unhappily, that are hungry and tired and it is 95 degrees out with the air conditioner not working for an hour long ride – and a lavender farm will relax you (okay, that is a TOTAL exaggeration). The point: lavender is a super relaxing herb both in the scent and the way it looks. So calming, those light purple hues flowing in the field.

Last week I took all three of my little guys for a small detour on the way to visit nanny. We headed the back way and went through our old stomping grounds, back when we were first married…Montgomeryville, through Chalfont to the outskirts of Doylestown, PA. Overlooking Lake Galena sits Peace Valley Lavender Farm. I have had this obsession with lavender recently and a friend had recommended this farm as a wonderful way to get to know more about it and stock up on some great lavender products. So we headed there…

Peace Valley Lavender isn’t a huge facility, so me bringing my three curious children probably maxed out the shop though it can fit many adults. It didn’t take us long to walk around and get some great information as well as a few really neat products!

Before we walked out, C and G had made up their own lavender sachet bag and were secretly discussing which drawer in their rooms they would store them in (don’t worry, I double knotted those suckers). I bought a large bag of lavender hoping that I can get some embroidery done soon and do some crafting with it (start the clock now:). I also got a spray bottle filled with Lavender Disinfectant. The woman working that day at Peace Valley Lavender highly suggested this one! And of course I couldn’t walk out without some Culinary Lavender to experiment in the kitchen with and a packet of herbs with which to marinate chicken in!

After a beautiful trip there and walking out armed with lavender counter spray, fresh lavender, culinary lavender, and marinade, I am inspired to do great things with it! Here are a few of my ideas:

Lavender Cake – I am dreaming of a sour cream cake with lavender throughout. Stay tuned!

Sugar Body Scrub with Lavender – So easy and so cute. I am sure sure it smells fabulous as well!

Lavender Paper – C and I are going to have a blast making this. Now off to make a paper mold:)

Lavender Mint Tea – I am going to try adding a bit of that culinary lavender to my mint tea that I have been enjoying this summer!

Lavender Sachets – Throw in a little embroidering and I’ll have myself a few cute gifts:)

Roasted Peach and Lavender Ice Cream – Ice Cream, yes please. Hand crank ice cream machine? Even better!

Have you ever used fresh lavender in anything?
