Happiness Happens In Small, Fleeting Moments

There has been a lot of happiness in this home that we call ours. You could say that happiness is created by those that want it to be and I do belive that to be true. But happiness in our house is often due to small fleeting moments created by our three beautiful children.

It is not in big accomplishments (though those certainly make us happy). Happiness is found as we stand on our back porch and overlook C, G, and H running and playing, exploring and creating, catching toads and watering weeds. It is what we dreamed of, when we dreamed of a home – a yard for our children to be children in.

It is not found in the money that we make. Happiness is when you listen to your two and a half year old that said mama for the first time less than 6 months ago talk in full sentences as he reads a book aloud to himself in the quiet of his room not knowing that you are standing by.

Happiness is watching two of your children spend hours pouring their hearts and souls into building their own garden, talking to each other (not fighting like usual) about the best way to steak up the tallest weed flower they could find. Digging up a lamb’s ear for them and one for the other. And then building a garden for their little brother so he doesn’t feel left out.

Happiness is hearing a knock knock joke through the mouth of your smallest child.

Happiness is baking zucchini bread with your daughter as you talk about favorite things and apprehensions in starting school.

Happiness is taking in every ounce of your son’s first tooth gap and listening to him wax and wane about when the best time to put his tooth under the pillow is.

That my friends is pure joy. Nothing beats it. Not a thing.

How does Happiness Happen for you?

About Lauryn Blakesley

A woman out to explore, celebrate, and enjoy everything that my community and living locally has to offer. Blessed with three beautiful children and an incredible husband, our family embraces adventure while dreaming of what is to come. Lover of knitting, running (although mostly after little ones right now), the color orange, fun accessories, fall, tea, and a clean kitchen floor. I spend my days in awe of my family and trying to teach my three to treat others as they would want to be treated.
