The Governator Burger Pizza {Recipe} and Revolutionary Pizza {Review}

cover

All right, if anyone knows my family, then you know that my family (one member in particular) LOVES pizza. That one member (don’t worry Ben, I won’t mention names – whoops;) tends to like certain brands that may or may not be the most healthy choice. SO whenever I get the chance to try out some homemade recipes, I take it!

Reviewing Revolutionary Pizza by Dimitri Syrkin-Nikolau was another one of those chances!

When I opened this book, the first thing that I found was a good old-fashioned recipe for pizza dough. I love a good pizza dough recipe. This one turned out delicious. Now I will say, living in our apartment, my scale is on the moving truck so I had to use the cup and Tbsp measurements and it still turned out good!

The pizza recipes in this book are hearty. They are full meals with an interesting twist. In fact, Dimitri goes on to say that he doesn’t consider this book a cookbook, that the recipes are meant for a party, inspiration to “shock your in-laws at the annual holiday party”. With chapter names like Pizzatizers, Deconstructed Diners, and Comfort Cravings, you know you are going to be trying some pretty interesting creations.

Forgetting for a moment that I was reading through a book filled with recipes, as a total foodie, I LOVED seeing all of the ingredients and reading the intros to each recipe. There were stories with each one. Stories that even the titles told. My fav – Yaya’s Spanakopita <it may be because I am a spanakopita lover.

I had trouble choosing which recipe from the book to share with you. It came down to the BBQ PortobellaPizza and The Governator Burger Pizza. I ended up choosing the latter.

It is Ben’s kind of pizza -one with meat. And my kind of pizza – one with veggies (microgreens included;). Perfection in an 8 slice circle.

Check out this deliciousness courtesy of Dimitri Syrkin-Nikolau and his fabulous new book Revolutionary Pizza: Bold Pies that Will Change Your Life…And Dinner.
