This year, the kids and I will be participating in Giving Tuesday.
We are definitely at fault when talking about getting wrapped up in the holiday season. Black Friday (I refuse to call Thursday anything but Thanksgiving), Cyber Monday, I admit, I am guilty of getting caught up in getting a good deal. Aside from trying to concentrate on a more local theme this year, we will also be participating in a new adventure, Giving Tuesday.
Some may say, oh, it is just another name to call something else. A name to get all wrapped up in. Well, sure, it may seem that way but really, does that matter when what comes out of it is good?
This year we are teaming up with friends Sarah from Finnegan and the Hughes and her children. We will be collecting gloves. They are collecting hats. Then, we will donate them to Women Against Abuse, an organization that provides services to women and children affected by domestic violence. There are plenty of places like this. Too many. I realize this seems simple and, it is. That’s the point. Imagine if every family collected one thing just ONE simple item and then donated them to someone in need. Yep, here I go again…I argue that this world would be a better place. Even if it is just a smidgen better. Not just for what we are donating, but also for what we are teaching our children…
Take a moment and look here to gather some ideas about what you can do as a family on Giving Tuesday to give back or help those in need. I guarantee you will find that it is worth it.
